Why your website doesn't convert

By Victor Baptistella · 2 September 2026 · 6 min read

When paid traffic does not convert, the ad account usually gets blamed. In our experience the page is at fault more often than the campaign, and the causes repeat.

1. The offer is unclear above the fold

A visitor should know what you do, who it is for and what happens next within a few seconds. Not a slogan. A specific outcome, in plain language.

2. The page does not match the ad

Someone clicked an ad about studio hire and landed on a homepage about your brand story. Message match is the single highest-leverage fix in paid media: build a page per campaign, per offer.

3. There is no proof

Claims without evidence get ignored. Real numbers, real client names, screenshots of actual results and specific examples do more than any amount of adjective-heavy copy. If you cannot show proof yet, show process instead — it also reduces uncertainty.

4. The form is too long

Every additional field costs conversions. Ask for what you need to have the first conversation and collect the rest later. Then track form starts as well as submissions so you can see where people abandon.

5. It is slow on a phone

Most paid traffic in Australia is mobile. Large unoptimised images, heavy scripts and layout shift lose visitors before the page renders. Test on a real device on mobile data, not a desktop connection.

Fix the measurement before the design

If form starts, submissions and CTA clicks are not tracked, you cannot tell which of the five problems you have — and redesigning on opinion is how sites get slower and convert worse. Instrument first, then change one thing at a time.
